My Philosophy of Teaching I had a closest companion in secondary school that had a handicap. Her inability never eased back her down. She played softball and went for the b-ball group. She propelled me. I know youngsters with incapacities can lead a fun and ordinary life. With a dreamer outlook I decided to educate, so I could show youngsters, debilitated or not, what an extraordinary effect they can have on the world. The study hall is the place this acknowledgment for the kids starts. My study hall won't be mine as it were. I need the youngsters to have a feeling of responsibility for homeroom moreover. The seating will be roundabout with my work area as a piece of the circle. Notice sheets will be set up with works the kids have done, trial material, and brainteasers. The release sheets will permit the youngsters to try different things with new thoughts and reach their own determinations. We will have undertakings and materials that push the kids to think, yet leave sufficient space for them to shape their own suppositions. The kids should have the option to spread the wings of their mind and have options by they way we sort out and run our study hall. By having a non-dictator study hall we have space for a majority rule government. The kids can enable me to choose what rules will keep the homeroom systematic and what disciplines are fitting for defying these guidelines. On the off chance that they make the discipline, it will be increasingly hard for them to fight when they are being rebuffed. The understudies would have possession in the homeroom. To keep my understudies from defying the guidelines, I intend to rouse them utilizing an assortment of strategies. A Good Man essay

Teens and tattoos free essay sample

Youth likes to be heard, and they ensure that it is in so many ways. The article on â€Å"On Teenagers and Tattoos† by Andres Martin, published by the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, explains how youth use tattooing and body piercing to express their way of thinking and how they feel. It also explores the various key reasons that lead to the decisions of youth to tattoo. Youth and tattoos is a growing trend in the US and parents of these teens that decide to have tattoos and piercings are concerned with their decisions. In this article Dr. Martin views tattoos in a positive way. This is shown in the last paragraph where he mentioned, â€Å"they (tattoos) can often be understood self-constructive and adorning efforts, rather than prematurely subsumed as mutilatory and destructive acts† (Para 12). He does not view youth having tattoos as a negative thing; instead he feels that it may be a form of symbolism for these youth. The intended audience of this article is to the psychiatrists, exhorting them to have another way of analyzing youth, and secondly for people who view youth having tattoos in a discriminating way. Dr. Martin brought up three main good reasons why youth get tattoos. The first reason that teenagers get tattoos and peircings can be subject to single them selves out and be unique. Secondly, tattoos can be treat as a tool to help cultivate the memory bringing back memories of a relationships or even an object. And last, is that teenagers get tattoos to symbolize their own experiences and get a tattoo that is showed on their skin to permanently have a relationship with that tattoo. Some youth might get tattoos to last them a lifetime rather than something that comes and goes. Like what Dr. Martin commented, â€Å"tattoos, unlike many relationships, can promise permanence and stability† (Para 9). The purpose of this article is to allow the intended audience understand the key reasons of youth tattooing and perhaps, change their judgmental views on youth with tattoos. I feel that Dr. Martin has covered some reasons and has come to his clinical conclusions on why youth choose to have tattoos on their bodies, but I also feel like something might have been left out. Perhaps some youth might get tattoos for the simple joy of the body art or because they like art and want it tattooed on their own bodies. I feel that most of the points are accurate by Dr. Martin in this article. For example, he mentioned, â€Å"tattooed adolescents can become unambiguously demarcated from others and singled out as unique† (Para 4). I strongly agree with this point because youth are always trying to find a way to make them-selves stand out and some try to start a new trend just to be unique or to be looked in a different way by their own peers and society. It may just be what they need to feel unique and trendy in their own way rather than following a same kind of trend that other youth follow. Their peers may have the same clothes or even hairstyles, but what sets them apart from their peers would be the tattoo or even piercing that they have on their bodies. Being different helps youth develop their own identity weather it is on tattoos or even clothing that they choose to wear. Youth may also mark out their identities by having tattoos of certain designs, colors and areas they choose to have tattoos done on their bodies. Dr. Martin pointed out that, â€Å"tattoos and piercings can be subject to fad influence or peer pressure in an effort toward group affiliation† (Para 1). Youth are often peer pressured into doing things and one thing they don’t do is reject any type of challenge their peers put on them. Being influenced and around their own peers with tattoos might make them feel like they need to fit into the â€Å"fad† or ‘trend† in order to be accepted by their peers. However, I do not agree with Dr. Martin’s view on tattoos being â€Å"self constructive†. On the contrary, I strongly view it as a form of â€Å"destructive act†. This is because youth may get tattoos simply because they want to experience the pain or thrill during the process. According to Dr. Martin, youth may feel that they have no control over the changes in their bodies, and â€Å"by indelibly marking their bodies, adolescents can strive to reclaim their bearings† (Para 5). For this reason, by tattooing, these youth may feel that they are in control of the pain weather it be inner pain caused by family issues they can feel like they are in control of their own bodies by conflicting bodily pain, which can be an act of self-harm that they can actually control. And in conclusion these youth take a â€Å"destructive act† towards their own bodies. Dr. Martin commented, â€Å"At a time of normative uncertainties adolescents may maladaptively and all too readily commit to a tattoo and its indefinite presence† (Para 11). I agree with this statement because some adolescents get tattoos not taking in consideration that tattoos are markings that stay with you for the rest of your life. Some regrets come after years of choosing a particular design or a particular symbol that they got at a younger naive age. Youth seek fashion and trends not only in tattoos and piercing but also in styles of clothing, make up for women and some on men. And as with these trends comes a sense of uniqueness they also seek. These differences in dressing or fashion bring out the different outlooks, views or even cultures in youth. The different trends youth look for reflect on their cultures and some start a new trend to create their own identities. My final thought is since tattoos will remain with a person for a lifetime, I feel that youth must take into considerations several factors before tattooing themselves. Especially in a conservative society like my country, El Salvador, many people are still not very opened minded with the idea of tattoos. People with tattoos in my country are often being portrayed as troublemakers or heavily involved in gangs and crime, and by having tattoos they portray themselves as criminals and get looked in a wrong way by society.

Throughout ones journey in life, our individual perceptions of faith in God, in mankind, and in ourselves, guide us along our path. In the absence of clarity of our faith, one is led to believe the norm is what proves to be popular within a society. Nathaniel Hawthorne's, ?Young Goodman Brown?, demonstrates to the reader, man's inherent attraction to evil, the intertwined depths of evil, and that a lack of understanding of faith; can not only destroy ones life, but also steal from the beliefs which binds us together in commonality. Even with a clear understanding of the Puritan attitude, the reader is left with the dilemma that seems to impose the idea, that faith in God alone is but a dogma in the absence of faith in and an understanding of humanity. Therefore, we resolve that it is not good enough to choose between good and evil; we must be all embracing of the doctrine of faith and forgiveness, so that we can function in a contributory way within our community. Is Young Goodman Brown's encountering with the Devil merely a test of his own faith? Or perhaps, is he simply intrigued by the mystique of evil forces that lie outside the realm of what he considers acceptable behavior in his Puritan times? ?With this excellent resolve for the future, Goodman Brown felt himself justified in making more haste on his present evil purpose? (634). Through his writing Nathaniel Hawthorne is able to develop a distinct set of doctrine that existed within the mind of Goodman Brown. Thus, the reader can assume that one trait of Puritan Society is a lack of tolerance for forgiveness. It is no wonder that Puritanism is known for a somber outlook on life, and a tendency to be immovable. A Puritan Society might find it difficult to see perfection in it's own members, especially if they do not recognize their own tendency toward hypocrisy. Young Goodman Brown's perception of his faith abandons him because he lacks a clear understanding of his experience in the woods. So in his ignorance he simply continues to criticize others due to the events that have taken place in his misguided life. He resolves that those he had previously viewed as pious, are now hypocrites in his eyes. ?Men of dissolute lives and women of spotted fame, wretches given over to all mean and filthy vice and suspected of horrid crimes? (640). It is clear that in the absence of the understanding of the freewill of mankind, Goodman Brown sees only immoral, sanctimonious, mischief-makers all around him. Thus, throughout the course of his life, Brown is overwhelmed with the burden of judging those around him. ?A stern, a sad, a darkly meditative, a distrustful, if not a desperate man did he become? (642). Unfortunately, even though Goodman Brown's ability to withstand the allure of evil sustained him through his own perceptions of faith, he lost something he can never regain; his belief in the goodness of mankind. When faith is shaken, or lost, whether in religion as an institution, or in ourselves for not being as constant as we think others are being, we change somehow. Like losing one's virginity, when the mystery of the church is questioned, or made more real to us, like it was to Goodman Brown in the forest that night, we are never the same. With a loss of blind faith comes the realization of a world filled with the horrors we pray to rectify, only to realize that we ourselves are as guilty as anyone. Our salvation comes with a clear understanding of forgiveness and the communion of saints which enables each of us to pick up the pieces of our unsuccessful attempts at perfection and forge ahead in acceptance of a less idealistic coexistence.

Similarly the shipment data could include fie lds describing what is included in the shipment as well as the name of the person performing the shipping. Additionally, the date and quality of shipment could also be included. One example of a relationship that may need to be tracked is that between shipper and shipment. Each shipper could possess a designated number that could then be used in the shipment table to identify who is performing the shipment. This allows for easy identification of who is shipping the equipment. Additionally, each piece of equipment could be labeled with a unique identification number that could be used relationally in the shipment table. When looking at the shipment table both the equipment and shipper are easily identifiable. This allows easy tracking of all necessary information pertaining to the shipment. Do you need a database system? If not, can Excel handle the data and the output? What are the advantages and disadvantages? While Excel could be used for storing data pertaining to scenario 1, a database system would provide a more in-depth description of what is happening. A database system is also advantageous because it provides the ability to sync information from multiple tables and sources. Ultimately, Excel could handle the input of data but would not produce the output of data and information. Kroenke (2014) states, lists of data involving a single theme can be stored in a spreadsheet; lists that involve data with multiple themes require a database (pg. 108). Excel possesses many advantages including the ability to more easily and quickly enter and manipulate data. However, the output of information received from Excel is very limited. This information is more black and white than the information retrieved from databases. Utilization of databases is advantageous due to the wealth of knowledge received from the manipulation of data. However, databases are often more complicated and require more time and ability for utilization. Would you use a personal database or an enterprise database? Explain your answer. While an enterprise database would allow multiple users and provide numerous additional features, a personal database is sufficient for scenario 1. Mary McLeod Bethune, born to former slaves in 1875, is known for her contributions in black communities. Bethune committed her life to educating African American on the right to freedom and education. She believed through education African Americans could determine their own destiny in an racially equal society. The strength and power she exhibited in the African American community ensured no one would be left behind without a chance in life. Civil right leaders devoted their lives for equality. A number of issues which plague African Americans have their roots dating back to slavery and the post-Civil War Reconstruction Era and are becoming more noticeable in our communities today. There is significant poverty and crime due to lack of education. Families are being destroyed because we have been oppressed by the Jim Crow laws . In many of the southern states during slavery and after the Civil War, slaves was discouraged by their former masters from becoming educated. Mainly because education was opposite with the institution of slavery and would eventually lead to failure . From the perspective of the slave masters, if African Americans were given access to education, they could possibly start thinking and acting on their own, and an uprising was foreseeable. Advocates of slavery in the state of Maryland would be required to accept the reality that slaves or freedmen were in fact not incapable or inferior in absorbing education. The slaves desired the exact same freedoms as whites but, the whites were unwilling to accept the facts . Woodson’s innate brilliance and capacity for critical thought allowed him to envision the impossible as possible. Dr. Woodson was particularly concerned with social and economic history focusing his lens on the fundamental virtue of African Americans, both as individuals and as an ethnic group. He was against Washington’s strategy to accept racial discrimination that would serve only to preserve white oppression. Du Bois was an advocate for political action and for the civil rights of former African American Slaves. He helped found the NAACP. He believed that social change can be accomplished by developing the small group of educated blacks he called the Talented Tenth. Du Bois has a more realist view in reference to education. Lack of education puts you at disadvantage in competing with whites for higher paying jobs. Ignoring racial discrimination will cause the people to become oppress. Education in Maryland: In Maryland 1865 one high school per county, the law was passed to opened the door for African-American children to receive a free education. The Emancipation Proclamation stated that African Americans were freed in 1863, segregation became the standard. African American teachers were not allowed teach in the state of Maryland without a three year certificate that was issued by the state superintendent, or by the president of the county board. The requirements for Maryland teachers in the 1860s-Caucasian or African-American-were the same. The teachers in Maryland were required to be single; to attend to the students from 9 -4 p. m. , Maryland counties were under no obligation to educated or supply public intuition for African American students. Many of the African American students were taught in very small quarters at home the teachings were informal. However a state law was passed in 1872 to create separate education of white and black students. The school board in Montgomery County refused to maintain the construction and maintenance of black schools. The county promised new schools will be built. MC refused to repairs previous burned and damaged schools from riots’ and cross burnings, Discard books were given to the black schools they never received new books. Most of the time the books were out dated and discarded by whites. The African American teaches salaries were withheld and classes halted with no formal notice. In spite of the white schools, and although many African American teachers were better qualified than their white peers, their official wage scale was much lower. Nevertheless, teachers and parents were devoted to providing the finest education they could, despite these adverse circumstances. In spite of such laws, in African American established a colored school for students and employed black teachers. In a few cases, slave masters taught their slaves or the children of slave masters. However, for the large majority of enslaved African Americans, there were really no formal recognized educational institutions. Therefore, African Americans depended on private instruction to educate themselves. Bowie State University is the oldest historically African American University. It was founded in 1865, in Baltimore, Maryland. It was considered an African American institution of higher education in the State of Maryland for people of color primarily for teachers. Some of the classes were held in Baptist churches. The freedmen’s Bureau the school relocated to a building purchased from the Society of Friends at Courtland and Saratoga Streets. The institution reorganized solely as a normal school to train black teachers in 1893. Conclusion: Globalization is the process in which the black community in the United States must continue to grow in becoming connected and intergraded into the modern world, by building businesses and generating economic growth. Education must become a priority. We must develop a social culture of literacy and education. The Black community must encourage the children to want to learn and move to higher level of education. The parents must be engaged in the educational process. The affects of slavery completely disrupted the notion of the black family because family members could be sold away from one another at any time. Mothers could be torn away from their infants; husbands could be sold away from their families without notice. Slavery made African Americans into work animals, or beasts of burden, who were expected to work from sun up to sundown without stopping, and who were sometimes actually bred like cattle or horses to make better, stronger slaves. Slavery also made black men, women and children extremely helpless to brutal violence, the means of which we cannot even imagine today: rape, murder, torture, lynching’s, tar and feathering, whipping, etc. Slavery also caused severe emotional and psychological trauma, which resulted in oftentimes in self-hatred because blacks were taught that everything black was bad and everything white was good because the lack of education and dehumanized put the African American community at disadvantaged. Some blacks learned to hate the color of their skin, their physical features, and the texture of their hair because they were told over and over that they were ugly because they werent European. The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom is the story about the life of a woman in Holland during the German Nazi invasion and holocaust. Miss. Ten Boom tells about her childhood, helping people escape through the anti-Nazi underground, her arrest and imprisonment, and her release. As a child Miss. Ten Boom grew up in their family's watch shop with her mother, father, sisters, Nollie and Betsie, brother, Willem, and aunts, Tante Jan, Tante Anna, and Tante Bep. Her close-knit family was a very important part of her life. They worked together to keep up the house and the shop. People would always be at their house to visit, needing a place to stay, or just to hear Father read the Bible. Through her brother she met Karel, with whom she fell in love. He was a schooled man, very intelligent and cunning. Though he also had a love for Corrie, he would never court her, let alone marry her. His family arranged his marriage with a woman that had a large dowry. The rejection hurt Corrie at that young age but was soon forgotten and placed behind her. Her family was always known for helping people less fortunate. In a person's time of need, her mother always took food and a warm smile to help. Whenever a child was homeless, they could always go to the Beje for shelter. It was not a surprise, then, when Corrie and the rest of her family got involved with the anti-Nazi underground. She had been noticing that everything in her little town was changing. There were police stationed everywhere and a curfew was being set. The Germans were beginning to take control. Corrie had found out from her brother, Willem, that there were Jewish people needing a place to stay. The family decided to open the Beje to take people in, mostly until they found them a new home. Corrie found a man inside the German government to get food ration cards so they the people could eat. She also found most of the people places to stay. There were a few people that the borders would not take in, for many different reasons. Those people had the Beje as a home. There was always a threat of the German officers making a surprise inspection of their home, so the heads of the underground installed a secret room in their house.

He has brought the laborious Journeys on foot to an end and has invented ships,cars,trains and amazingly high speed airplanes. Just by his struggle and diligence,man has enabled himself to accomplish these outstanding miracles alongside many more baffling ones.
